Alexis Floyd grew up in a musical household in Cleveland, Ohio. Her mother is the manager of the Cleveland Youth Orchestra and her father was a musically trained tenor before becoming a lawyer. She began playing the violin at the age of three.
She competed in figure skating, gave violin recitals at the Youth Orchestra, trained at the Cleveland School of Ballet, and performed musical theater at the Cleveland Playhouse and the Cleveland Public Theater.
