Wesley was born and reared in the Nevada city of Las Vegas. Rutin Wesley was born in Las Vegas, and her parents, Cassandra Wesley, and Nivery Wheeler are also experienced, tap dancers.
She went to the Las Vegas Academy of Foreign Studies, Performing, and Visual Arts in high school. She attended Simba Studios and the West Las Vegas Arts Center to study dance.
Wesley missed certain college training program auditions while at the Las Vegas Academy. She ultimately chose the University of Evansville in Indiana.

Wesley had a little part in the 2005 picture Hitch that was deleted from the final cut. She made her film debut in 2007 as the lead character in British director Ian Iqbal Rashid’s film How She Move.
