The Grey’s Anatomy fall finale on Thursday most certainly saw sparks fly. The physicians on Grey Sloan were, um, tasked with repairing the injured while Seattle was pummeled by an electrical storm, all the while bracing for the shock that ABC’s commercials had warned us about.
And what was it? Continue reading, and I’ll explain.
YOU WILL SEE GRABBLING INJURIES Meredith informed her Grey Sloan coworkers of her departure in an email as “Thunderstruck” got underway. How did Nick react to the news? Mer advised Amelia and Maggie that they weren’t discussing it. The chemistry between Lucas and Simone was set to 11.
I already adore them, so sue me. Jo had to report to work at the clinic since Link reminded her that women need abortions year-round. Sadly, when she got there, she discovered that delays in progress due to bureaucracy prevented the clinic from opening yet.
In another place, Amelia hauled Lucas in front of his peers and forced him to admit that he is a Shepherd because she was irate that he had not yet informed his other residents that they are not sleeping together. We don’t currently have sex and never have, she stated.
With each other, I guess. Nick reassured the interns that despite their fears, the residency program would not terminate as a result of Mer’s departure because the program itself, and not any particular surgeon, was what mattered.
Jonathan, a TV journalist whose aircraft was electrocuted on Station 19 and left him in such a bad state that he had to be brought to the hospital in the chopper’s removed chair, soon arrived in the emergency room.
Teddy seemed to have a lightbulb moment when the patient confessed to his wife Paola for resenting her for wanting him to give up his dream of becoming a war journalist for her.
Was Owen going to be let out of the doghouse soon? When Teddy and Owen informed Paola that Jonathan would survive, Mika told Altman that seeing her in action had rekindled her belief that she was capable of anything. Teddy Says, You’re a badass boss lady physician.”
Children’s book author Tessa, who was suffering from pancreatitis, signed books for Mer’s children, but Mer decided against getting an autograph for herself because she already had the writer’s Jane Hancock from when she was a child.
(Tessa was a legend in Seattle, didn’t you know?) Simone questioned Lucas about his feelings after his deep, dark secret was revealed before scrubbing in on Tessa’s Whipple surgery. He responded, “Not so much different as better.”
(Of course, the scene was more about how prepared she was for the Whipple than anything else. Additionally, they became more flirtatious.) Lucas received a motivational speech from Nick before the operation in which he was told that he was capable of being well-known.
Nick urged Lucas to go to the O.R. while Mer exercised greater caution. She thought Adams was too exhausted to perform, so Simone took his place. The drama in that O.R. didn’t end there; it just started.
Nick’s boyfriend said that he was unsure when Richard asked if he would be departing with Mer. He had a hard time coming up with questions to ask her. Richard assured him, “She’s worth it.”
She was, though. Mer had kept Lucas’ Shepherd status a secret from Nick. Nick was amazed at the position she had put him in when the pair finally argued/talked. Even though he had no idea how to defend them, he detested the thought of betraying his class of citizens.
In other news, Jo criticized Levi for using his small amount of power carelessly while helping out in the mine.
When Blue requested a consult, Jules took great pleasure in outwitting him. Later, as they became closer, they shared much more about their pasts than they typically would have during a one-night stand.
Winston unexpectedly up at Mer’s to assist Maggie in packing for her sister and to thwart her attempts to avoid him and any discussions of his shifting specializations.
But as far as he was concerned, the choice had already been made. He was intending to participate in Grey Sloan’s fellowship in vascular surgery. If we continue to collaborate, we won’t be successful.
Winston declared, “I love to exercise, but I love you more.” Maggie was not satisfied with this response. Even if she respected it, she wasn’t Sure.
Winston was taking that hit when lightning struck the home! Back at Grey Sloan, Bailey soon received a call from Ben, and Richard quickly cut short Nick and Mer’s treatment of Tessa to inform Grey that her home was on fire. She left to discover her house on fire, but the kids were unharmed.
The clinic, which was dedicated to Miranda’s late mother Elena, was finally able to open at day’s end thanks to Jo, Bailey, and Carina. Tessa was fine, according to Simone, who informed Lucas in the locker room.
But all he wanted to do was criticize himself for doing poorly in the operating room. He suddenly kissed her as they were arguing, but she was unable to accept it. Um, why? Increasingly curious. And at Mer’s, her and Derek’s Post-It-noted vows were at least spared from the fire.
