White, who was born in Luton, England, became well-known as the guitarist for singer/songwriter Al Stewart.
He joined Stewart’s band in 1975 when he was 20 years old and relocated to Los Angeles in 1978.
He co-wrote many songs with Stewart over 20 years, including Stewart’s 1978 top-ten single “Time Passages” and “Midnight Rocks” (which peaked at #24 on the US charts) in 1980.
That same year, he created Shot In The Dark, a band that supported Stewart, and released an album of the same name in 1981.

Career
White co-produced Skipper Wise’s album “The Clock and the Moon” in 1989. Wise co-produced White’s first two solo albums, Reveillez-Vous in 1990 and Excusez-Moi in 1992, in exchange.
Peter White released numerous solo albums, with several tracks hitting the top of the Billboard Smooth Jazz Songs list.
“Midnight in Manhattan” with Grover Washington, Jr. (1998), “What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)” with Sam Riney (2006), and “Mister Magic” with Bob James (2007).
