Olivia Culpo on Her Relationship breakdown with Nick Jonas: “I Thought We Were About to Get Married”

“My whole identity was in him,” Olivia Culpo said of her romance with Nick Jonas during the launch of The Culpo Sisters, her new TLC reality program.

Olivia Culpo felt her relationship with Nick Jonas would last forever.

The 30-year-old model opened out about her prior romance with Jonas, also 30, on the debut episode of TLC’s The Culpo Sisters. After nearly two years together, Culpo and Jonas split in 2015.

Culpo confessed her friendship with the musician after being pressured by reality show producers.

“Do I have to talk about it?” she said, before going on to say, “I did date Nick, and that was a formative experience for me.”

She recalled their early days together and how their parting affected her, saying, “I relocated to L.A. with him. I had no name, no money, and I was madly in love. Although that was amazing, when he broke up with me, I had no self-esteem left.

“My entire identity was tied up in him,” she explained, “which is a relatively normal scenario for a young love.” I believed we were going to marry, and all I could think about was gazing up at my ceiling in my rent-controlled apartment, wondering how I was going to pay my rent.”

“At the time, I couldn’t even afford to buy food,” she stated. It was a pivotal, watershed moment in my life, but it taught me that you can’t give up.”

Culpo has been happily dating San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey since their divorce in 2019. Jonas is also married to Priyanka Chopra, an actress.

Following her relationships with Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, football players Danny Amendola and Tim Tebow, and model McCaffrey, Culpo decided to make an exception to her “never again date an athlete” rule.

She told Entertainment Tonight earlier this month that she doesn’t have some of the issues she had with previous sportsmen in her current relationship.

She praised McCaffrey, 26, saying, “He’s just the best.” “I feel like he’s truly all that I could dream for.” “So I never have to be concerned about anything. I suppose that’s why I didn’t want to date an athlete, no offense because there’s a stigma attached to it.”

“He comes from a decent family,” Culpo continued. We share a lot of things in common with that. I believe that a person’s parents truly reveal a lot about their character, which is why I adore his parents so much. They get along quite well.”

McCaffrey has a “good head on his shoulders,” according to the Culpo Sisters actress, and the two are planning their future together. The former Miss Universe is “excited” about what lies ahead for them and made a point of joking about how “gorgeous” her fiancé is.

It’s reasonable to assume the famous athlete admires Culpo’s genuine self.

“On the first episode of The Culpo Sisters, he stated his favorite version of me is zit cream, hair down, and no makeup.”

Culpo also becomes upset on the TLC show as she discusses a painful former relationship.

“I am always concerned about the future. I always assumed that by 30, I’d be married and have children, “Culpo, 30, disclosed in the video.”I was with someone who committed incredibly heinous crimes.

Every sense of the word made me feel less than human.” I’ve never discussed it before,” she said as she sobbed.

Although it is unclear who the influencer in the sobbing confessional is referring to, Culpo was in an on-again, off-again romance with NFL star Danny Amendola, which culminated in a public falling out.
