Daniel Lawrence Whitney, popularly known as Larry the Cable Guy, was born on February 17, 1963, in Pawnee City, Nebraska, and grew up on a pig farm.
His parents are guitarist, entertainer, and Christian minister Tom Whitney and Shirley Whitney. Larry went to high school at The King’s Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, in the late 1970s, while his father was the principal of The King’s Academy’s elementary school.
In 1980, he transferred to Berean Christian School in West Palm Beach, where he graduated in 1982. He went on to study acting and speech at the Baptist University of America in Georgia and the University of Nebraska Lincoln.

Larry first appeared on the radio in the early 1990s, on The Ron and Ron Show and The Chris Baker Show.
Larry began his stand-up career under his birth name, but after minimal success, he invented his Larry The Cable Guy persona, which became very popular.
He is best known as Larry The Cable Guy for his thick southern accent and his catchphrase “Git-R-Done!” which has become as iconic as his character.
Larry’s big break came in 2000 when fellow comic Jeff Foxworthy asked him to join his Blue Collar Comedy tour with Ron White and Bill Engvall.
