International Career

In January 2013, James Neesham played in his first ODI, however, he did not play much. After his debut series, Neesham did produce in spurts, but his lackluster play caused him to be in and out of the team frequently.

He almost missed the bus to the 2015 home World Cup as a result, and he was heartbroken. Over the following two seasons, Neesham played for the one-day team, but after the 2017 Champions Trophy, he was benched.

On January 3, 2019, Neesham scored 34 runs in one over, including five sixes, in the first ODI matchup with Sri Lanka. He was selected for the New Zealand team to compete in the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April.

T20 Career

Neesham played well in the shorter forms during the domestic season before making his T20I debut for New Zealand against South Africa in Durban in December 2012. His first game did not go well as New Zealand was bowled out for 86 runs, with Neesham scoring 10 runs.

Test Career

Neesham scored a century in his Test debut against India in February 2014, and he was at the other end when captain Brendon McCullum became the first Black Cap to record a triple century in a Test.

He scored 137 runs in his maiden innings, which is also a Test record for a number 8 batsman’s debut total. He’s taken part in 12 Test matches so far, recording 709 runs at an average of 33.76.
