On August 9, 1964, Hoda Kotb was born in Norman, Oklahoma. Hoda Kotb was reared by Egyptian-born Muslim parents who moved around a lot. Kotb traveled with her brother and sister to Morgantown, West Virginia, and Alexandria, Virginia.
She also spent a portion of her childhood abroad in the United States, in nations such as Egypt and Nigeria. Hoda’s mother works at the Library of Congress, and her father was a fossil energy specialist until he died at the age of 51.
Career
Hoda Kotb began her media career in 1986 as a CBS News news assistant. Eventually, she became an anchor and reporter for WQAD-TV.
After a brief stint at WXVT-TV, she was hired as the weekend anchor and reporter for WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida.
Kotb was a reporter and anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 1992 to 1998. She then became a national correspondent for NBC and has remained with the network to this day.
Since 1998, the journalist has also worked as a correspondent for the network’s show Dateline NBC. She hosted a weekly syndicated program called ‘Your Complete Health’ from 2004 to 2008. Kotb has been a co-host of NBC’s “Today Show”s fourth hour since 2007.
In 2014, she appeared in two episodes of ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.’ Kotb also participated as a celebrity judge on ‘Brothers Take New Orleans two years later.
She starred as Miss Sweetum in the children’s animated television series ‘Mickey and the Roadster Racers in 2017. She has been a third co-anchor of ‘Today’ since March 2017, and she periodically steps in for Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer.
