Harry Potter actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, and Bonnie Wright pay homage to the beloved Hagrid in the wake of Robbie Coltrane’s passing at age 72.
Robbie Coltrane, a well-known Hagrid actor in the Harry Potter films, passed away on Friday at the age of 72. Belinda Wright, Coltrane’s agent and friend, confirmed the actor’s passing and referred to him as “a remarkable genius.”
He will likely be best known for his part as Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies, which delighted audiences worldwide and resulted in a steady stream of fan mail for more than 20 years, according to Wright, who spoke to PEOPLE magazine.
Along with being a fantastic performer, she continued, “For me personally, I shall remember him as an enduringly devoted client… He was forensically intelligent… beautifully witty.” And I will miss him after 40 years of being honored to be his agent.
According to Deadline, the actor passed away at a hospital close to his home in Larbert, Scotland, after suffering from illness for the previous two years.
Following his passing, the actor’s admirers, acquaintances, and coworkers paid tribute to him on social media. The star of the Harry Potter films, Daniel Radcliffe, told Deadline that Robbie “used to keep us laughing continuously as kids on the set” and was one of the funniest individuals he had ever encountered.
