Following the discovery of his Alzheimer’s, Chris Hemsworth says he will be “taking time off” from acting.

After learning that he has a genetic predisposition to developing Alzheimer’s disease, Chris Hemsworth has decided to take a break from performing.

The “Thor” actor learned about the information while filming the fifth episode of his Disney+ series “Limitless,” in which he visits a doctor and learns he has a genetic predisposition for the disease that gradually robs people of their memory and other crucial mental abilities.

Because Hemsworth has two copies of the APOE4 gene in his DNA, he has an eight to ten times greater probability of acquiring the degenerative neurologic illness than the ordinary individual.

After finishing his press tour for the documentary series, he told Vanity Fair in an article that was published Thursday that he plans to take a break from his work after learning the news.

The 39-year-grandfather old’s was identified as having Alzheimer’s, and he provided more information to Vanity Fair.

He slides in and out of Dutch, which is his native tongue, and I’m not sure he recalls much anymore, Hemsworth added. He’ll be speaking in both Dutch and English, as well as a mash-up and perhaps some other new words.

The Australian actor admitted that while filming the show, he realized he wasn’t “ready to go yet” because it dealt with such a serious subject. He also met with death doulas for the series’ climactic episode as a result of the genetic revelation.

While Hemsworth insisted that “it’s not like I’ve been handed my resignation,” he did acknowledge that the accumulation of his experiences had pushed him to take a break from performing.

Following the discovery of his Alzheimer's, Chris Hemsworth says he will be "taking time off" from acting.

Hemsworth remarked, “I genuinely felt like it triggered something in me to want to take some time off.” And ever since the show ended, I’ve been fulfilling the tasks for which I had already signed a contract.

The celebrity has already finished filming his forthcoming projects, “Extraction 2” for Netflix and “Furiosa,” a prequel to “Mad Max: Fury Road” by George Miller.

When I finish this tour this week, Chris added, “I’m going home and I’m going to have a significant block of time off and basically simplicity.” Be with my wife and the children.

India, 10, and the identical twins Sasha and Tristan, both 8 years old, are Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky’s children.

The father of three continued by saying that Disney had offered him a copy of “Limitless” without the diagnosis, but he was adamant about preserving the complete edition.

Look, if this inspires others to take better care of themselves and realize that there are actions you can take, great, Hemsworth remarked.

He continued, I just didn’t want to twist it, overdramatize it, or turn it into some sort of corny grab at empathy or something for amusement.

Hemsworth, who has played the hammer-wielding God of Thunder in over eight films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also said in the interview that he’s “totally open to” returning to the role in the future.

The actor stated of playing Thor, “I’ve always adored the experience.” I’ve been grateful that I’ve been able to try new things each time.

Disney+ is currently offering “Limitless” episodes for streaming.
