Craig McDermott Net Worth

Craig McDermott is a well-known Cricketer who was born in the United Kingdom on April 14, 1965.

McDermott was a rhythm bowler, and when he was in rhythm, he had an aggressive approach to the wicket and great sideways-on action, which gave him fast velocity and outswing.

He always reserved his best for England, collecting 32 wickets in the final complete series he was allowed to play before being sidelined by injury.

Injuries appeared to strike him at inopportune moments, and he missed the historic West Indies tour of 1995, as well as most of the 1996 World Cup.

He also missed most of the 1993 Ashes tour, during which Merv Hughes and Shane Warne split the winnings in his absence. In tests, 8/97 against England in 1991 was his best bowling analysis.

With the best analysis being the 5/44, he finished with 291 wickets from 70 Tests and 203 one-day wickets.

Early Life

Craig McDermott was born in Ipswich, Queensland  on April 14, 1965

Career

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, McDermott led the Australian assault. At 191 cm tall, he was a strong build player.

He began his career with Queensland in 1983–84 and played his first Test match for Australia in 1984–85 against the West Indies while still a teenager (his youth engendered his nickname “Billy”  from Billy the Kid).

He got 30 wickets in his 1985 first Ashes trip. But he was exhausted and overextended from bowling. In 1987’s World Cup, he performed admirably and contributed to Australia’s victory.

In the competition, he claimed 18 wickets, including 5/44 in the semifinal victory over Pakistan.

McDermott was a rhythm bowler, so when the situation called for it, he would approach the wicket aggressively and had a great sideways-on motion that gave him fast velocity and outswing.

Taking 32 wickets in the final complete series he was allowed to play before ailments took control, he always reserved his best for England.

He missed the historic West Indies tour in 1995 and the majority of the 1996 World Cup because injuries always seemed to strike at the worst moments.

He also missed most of the 1993 Ashes tour, during which Merv Hughes and Shane Warne split the winnings in his absence. In tests, 8/97 against England in 1991 was his best bowling analysis.
