At the Latin Grammys, Romeo Santos Takes on the Role of a Drunk, Scoffing Lover

“Bebo,” from the artist’s most recent album “Formula Vol. 3,” was performed.

When Romeo Santos, a native of the Bronx and regarded as the king of bachata, performed his hit song “Bebo” from his most recent album Fórmula, Vol. 3 at the Latin Grammys, he portrayed an inebriated and disdainful character.

On the stage, which was covered in empty liquor bottles, he stumbled all over. He leaped into the song after pretending to sip from one.

Romeo completed his performance with a small fall to the floor to fully embody his character, accompanied by supporting singers and a guitarist who dominated his solos.

The musician has received more than one hundred honors throughout his career as a solo performer and as the main singer of the highly regarded bachata band Aventura.

For his documentary “Romeo Santos: King of Bachata,” which examined the genre’s development and found him traveling the Dominican Republic alongside The Kid Mero, he has been nominated this year for Best Long-Form Music Video.

As a member of Aventura, Santos is also up for best urban fusion/performance.

Santos has enjoyed a storied career for more than two decades. Fans went wild in person and online during his star-studded 2019 MetLife Stadium performance.

He also invited other New Yorkers and professionals from the city’s music scene to the event, including Cardi B, Daddy Yankee, Marc Anthony, and Thala. Santos’ fifth studio album, Formula, Vol. 3, was just published in September with much anticipation.
