On July 19, 1962, Anthony Charles Edwards was born in Santa Barbara, California. Edwards grew up in an Irish household with artistic, architectural, and design ancestors.
He was awarded a scholarship to the Royal School of Dramatic Arts. He also attended the University of Southern California to study theater.
Erika Kem Edwards Plack and Peter Edwards raised Edwards. He has two elder sisters and two older brothers and is of Irish origin. Their parents pushed him to enroll in college.

In the early 1980s, Edwards made his cinematic debut in ‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High’. He featured in ‘Revenge of the Nerds a few years later. In ‘Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise,’ he reprised his role.
He soared to stardom when he booked the part of “Goose” in ‘Top Gun’ starring Tom Cruise. Despite garnering poor reviews, the film was a big success, grossing over $356 million at the box office. Following ‘Top Gun,’ he had further success in films such as ‘Hawks’ and ‘Downtown.’
