Espinoza Paz (Isidro Chávez Espinoza) was born on October 29, 1981, in La Angostura, Mexico, a tiny town in the northern state of Sinaloa. When he was 11 years old, he penned his first song, which was dedicated to a lady he had a crush on.
Even though he had already written 20 songs by the time he was 13 years old, it wasn’t until his father sent him money from the US that he decided to get his first guitar and begin learning how to play it.
He moved to Sacramento, California in 1996, where he developed a love for music while earning a livelihood by picking grapes, harvesting oranges, and washing tomatoes in Dixon, California.
A few months later, he made the difficult decision to go back to Mexico, where he experienced the death of his mother, Mrs. Maria de la Paz Espinoza, which was the most difficult event of his life.
Career
His major break came when he showed some of his ideas to El Coyote, a prominent Sinaloan banda singer, who recorded his songs “Besitos En El Cuello,” “Prohibido,” and “Para Impresionarte,” all of which were successes.
Paz met Martin Fabian, a well-known radio and music business celebrity, in December 2006, and he instantly recognized the young singer-amazing songwriter’s ability.
They quickly began working together on his debut album, “Paz En Tu Corazón” (literally, “Peace In Your Heart”—the title is a pun on his name). In 2007, this initiative was created in conjunction with the Nueva Generacion Music Group.
His first album on a major label, “El Canta Autor del Pueblo” (“The Village Singer-Songwriter”), was released in 2008 on the Machete Music subsidiary.
This was followed by the release of another independently released album, “Amigo Con Derechos” (“Friend With Benefits”), and a recording contract with Universal Latino.
Eight previously published singles, including “El Celular” (“The Cell Phone”) and “Amigo con Derechos” (“Friend With Benefits”), were featured on this album, along with four brand-new songs.
“El Proximo Viernes” (“Next Friday”), the album’s opening track, reached its highest position on Billboard Magazine’s “Hot Latin Tracks” chart at number 14.
