Over the past few years, Mark Hoppus has experienced a lot. He misinformed the public in June 2021 that he had stage IV diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, but he boldly declared his cancer-free status in September of the same year.
In his professional life, blink-182 just delivered a massive bombshell, saying Tom DeLonge has re-joined the band and they’re planning a new record and world tour.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hoppus disclosed he’s working on a memoir, so it appears he’s putting the compelling story down on paper.
Hoppus stated, “I really started working on a book previously this year. I’m now working on a book concerning my life, my time in Blinking, and the difficulties I’ve had recently, but I’m not finished.
I’m generally pleased with how things are going, Mark commented, as we seal the deal. I’m excited to tell you my tale,” Hoppus remarked. I kept my sickness a secret for a very long time because I was so afraid and overwhelmed.
“My world grew incredibly, really narrow,” he continued. Like when I shut down, all that was left in my life was my family and close friends. When I unintentionally shared it on Instagram, I was receiving my third chemotherapy treatment in a hospital chair.
I can still picture myself staring at it as my manager, publicist, and friends started to phone. All of a sudden, I realized that I had seriously messed up.
But as soon as word spread, there was such a tremendous outpouring of love and support, not just from the general public but also from users of Instagram, Twitter, and Discord, as well as from long-lost friends with whom I had a 20-year disagreement.
I felt as though I had rounded a corner when they returned to my life. I became less frightened and thought, “Okay, let’s try to get through this by sharing my story.”
